I came in at 2:41p on Saturday to open a new business checking account. The branch closes at 4p. At 3:03, one of the 2 (or 3?) customer service bankers helping people had to go on lunch. On her way out, she asked those of us waiting for help what we needed. The people ahead of me said they wanted to open a personal checking account. Then she asked me and I said I wanted to open a business checking account. She said "Oh, we won’t have time to do that today, you’ll need to come back another day."
Frustrated, I walked to my car, then called the bank from my mobile and got ‘the’ manager, Claudia. I asked her if she would help me open a business checking account. She said I would have to wait as there were people already waiting for help, and I said that was fine, that I didn’t want to wait and be turned away because they ran out of time. Then she changed her mind and said that I would need to make an appointment or come back another day.
I asked "Are you not willing to help a new customer open an account because you don’t want to stay late?" She only repeated herself that I would need to come back another day.
A waste of my time and terrible customer service. What ever happened to businesses greeting their customers (or potential customers) and doing what it takes to help the customer??
