Today at Walt’s Barn…

The third Sunday of each month from 11a to 3p, Walt’s Barn is open at Griffith Park.  I’ve been volunteering there almost every month for about… Nine months? I think…

It’s a great little place that is dedicated to Walt’s love of trains.  There are LOTS of artifacts and historical items inside, and lots of knowledgeable people.  All of the people who volunteer regularly at the barn love Disneyland, and Walt and trains.  So today was a special 3rd Sunday for me – I got to tell everyone that I had gone back to work at the park (they all knew that I was a tour guide for a long time.)  So after I told them that I went back to work at the park, I told them what I was going to be doing.  Very exciting!  Everyone was excited and happy for me as well.  More than once I was told "You have to let me know how it goes – I’m now living vicariously through you!"

So – tomorrow is my first day "firing".  I’ll actually be sitting in the seat, controlling the boiler pressure and making sure there’s enough for the engineer when he pulls back on the throttle.  It will be an exciting day to be sure!
