Mickey Mouse’s birthday is November 18, 1928 – the date of his first appearance to the public in “Steamboat Willie”.
Since Marceline’s 100th anniversary celebration of Walt’s birthday was badly affected by the 9/11 attacks, 2028 could be another opportunity for Marceline to celebrate Mickey (and Walt) as a way to attract tourists and continue to share Walt’s story.
Some of the ideas from Walt’s 100th birthday could be re-used, with many other ideas related to animation, and drawing from the many successful years of Toonfest, could make a fun celebration.
Rather than doing a single multi-day event, what about celebrating for a month, with special events each weekend of the month, so that visitors have a better chance of making one of the dates work, as well as not over-stressing local volunteers?
